Join SHRMA as we kick off our fall programming IN PERSON!
All employers, regardless of size, should be prepared to respond to employees who need time off for personal reasons, military leaves, medical leaves, family members’ medical needs, and any other reasons. During this presentation, there will be discussions on various leave scenarios and approaches to handling employee leaves including worker's compensation, short-term/long-term disability, FMLA, ADA (including reasonable accommodations), and personal leaves of absence. There is more to successfully handling employee leave issues than just following the law; other considerations include employee relations, company culture, and values.
This program will also address the additional challenges that HR professionals face with regard to the increase in mental health issues and medical marijuana use and navigating and administering appropriate accommodations.
Participants will learn the basics of workers’ compensation, FMLA and ADA laws and creating comprehensive employee leave policies.
Participants will learn how worker’s compensation, short/long term disability, and other paid leaves work in conjunction with FMLA and ADA.
Participants will learn the importance of effective communication before, during, and after employee leave.
Participants will demonstrate their knowledge of the laws by applying solutions to leave scenarios.
This program has been approved for 1.5 recertification credits for SHRM and HRCI. Please register by September 8th, 2023!
