Approximately 70% of people globally will experience a potentially traumatic event during their lifetime, and these people are showing up to work with the effects of these events. A trauma-informed approach in the workplace acknowledges the trauma some people have experienced in their lives, and is based on principles such as offering people choice, promoting safety (including cultural safety), sharing power and supporting recovery. This interactive session covers trauma awareness, real-life scenarios, communication tools, and self-care practices, while equipping you with essential trauma-informed strategies to foster a supportive workplace. You will leave with actionable steps to recognize, respond to, and integrate trauma-informed practices into your professional HR role.

OBJECTIVES

  • Understand workplace trauma, and recognize and respond to it
  • Apply trauma-informed HR practices to build trust and safety
  • Implement practical tools to navigate challenges effectively
  • Prioritize HR self-care and resilience to sustain healthy trauma-informed leadership

    SPEAKER BIO

Ruby Nolt is a seasoned coach, consultant, and facilitator with over 20 years of leadership experience in nonprofit social services, faith-based ministry, and trauma-informed crisis response. She is passionate about equipping leaders to move from reactive “doing” to intentional “being”—leading with clarity, courage, and presence.

Ruby holds certifications as a process consultant and in both the Hogan and Working Genius Assessments, integrating tools and trauma-informed practices into her coaching and consulting. She has guided dozens of leaders and teams through seasons of growth, transition, and transformation. Whether working with executive teams, middle managers, or emerging leaders, Ruby fosters practical insight, emotional intelligence, and sustainable leadership practices.

Ruby launched her own business, R. Nolt Consulting, LLC, at age 48, driven by a desire to blend lived experience, deep expertise, and a commitment to helping others lead with authenticity, serving in her local community. Her coaching approach centers on presence over pressure and developing internal resilience to navigate external demands.

As a mom of three adult children, Ruby understands the complexity of integrating career and family, and she brings this lived wisdom into her work—particularly when supporting leaders who are business owners and in key executive leadership seats.

When she’s not facilitating workshops, speaking or coaching clients, you’ll find Ruby enjoying meaningful conversation over coffee with friends, spending time with her family over a good meal, or hosting friends for backyard gatherings in Lancaster, PA!

Bingaman & Son Lumber, Inc. has had a Crisis Response Committee in place since 2016. The committee members meet to re-establish and rehearse roles so they will be prepared for when a crisis would arise.

This committee met frequently during COVID-19 to navigate the federal requirements and keep their employees safe. Tyler and Bobby will share how members are assigned with responsibilities and a chain of command for this very important team.
